S was derived from the Rauscher-virus-induced H-2b lymphoma RBL-5 by exposure to the
mutagen ethylmethane sulfonate (EMS) and repeated rounds of treatment with antisera to
class I molecules and complement (Ljunggren and K~ irre 1985; K~ irre et al. 1986). It
expressed about one-twentieth the amount of H-2D b, K b and fl2-microglobulin at the cell
surface as RBL-5 cells exposed to EMS but not selected with antibodies (referred to as
